The arrival of the second winter storm, which is already moving over the northwest of Mexico, will cause sleet or snowfall in the mountains of Baja California, Sonora and Chihuahua, reported the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
The agency dependent on Conagua also announced that for today Friday, the cold front number 19 of the season and the second winter storm will move over the northwest of the country, causing intense punctual rains in Baja California and Sonora, very strong rains in Chihuahua and strong in Baja California Sur.
Likewise, the cold to very cold environment with frosts at dawn will be perceived in the northwest, north, center, east and southeast of the national territory, being the freezing environment in high areas of Chihuahua and Durango.
The SMN specified that for today December 22, very strong rains with intense punctuals (75 to 150 mm) are forecast in the states of Baja California and Sonora, as well as strong rains with very strong punctuals (50 to 75 mm) in the state of Chihuahua.
Likewise, it foresees minimum temperatures of -10 to -5 ° C with frosts in the mountains of Chihuahua and Durango, as well as minimum temperatures of -5 to 0 ° C with frosts in the mountains of Baja California, Sonora, Hidalgo, State of Mexico, Tlaxcala, Puebla, Veracruz and Oaxaca.
In addition, gusts of wind of 60 to 70 km / h with dust storms are expected in Baja California, Sonora and Chihuahua.
Rains in Sonora, the State Civil Protection Coordination of Sonora recommends caution on the Ímuris-Magdalena highway due to the presence of rains and the asphalt tape presents water accumulation.
The agency added that due to the second winter storm, it is possible that other road sections in the north and east of Sonora experience water or sleet accumulation, so it is recommended to drive with extreme caution and follow the indications of the authorities.
