HERMOSILLO, Sonora.- The Second Balloon Festival in Hermosillo was an economic and visitor success with a spill of 17.5 million pesos, 127% more compared to last year’s edition and had 28 thousand guests, reported Mayor Antonio Astiazarán.
“I am very happy as municipal president to see how an event of this nature is consolidated on the occasion of its second edition and all this invites us so that the Balloon Festival is here to stay,” he said.
95% of the attendees were from Hermosillo and 5% from other places, some from the United States and other municipalities, according to data from the Municipal Economic Development Agency.
“It is a great opportunity to be able to present or promote not only our city but our food, which is very good, our traditions, our culture, our sunrises and sunsets,” said Astiazarán Gutiérrez.
The Hermosillo Balloon Festival 2024 will be much better, he highlighted, in addition to the important security deployment with the Police that helped maintain order.
The day the hot air balloons did not take off was for safety reasons, he said, due to bad weather caused by gusts of wind.
The director of the Municipal Economic Development Agency, Gertie María Agraz Boeneker, commented that there were three days of celebration, the last two in Beroa Residencial.
