With the goal of strengthening tourism and urban development in the region, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño presented the seawall modernization projects in San Carlos, Guaymas, and Empalme, which will represent a total investment of more than 800 million pesos.

In San Carlos, accompanied by the mayor of Guaymas, Karla Córdova, the state governor announced the construction of the New Seawall at Playa Bahía Delfín, with a budget of 550 million pesos. The project will span 2.4 kilometers, including paths for bicycles and urban transportation, an inclusive park, viewing platforms, an amphitheater, ecological areas, children’s playgrounds, commercial areas, parking, and state-of-the-art street furniture.

Meanwhile, in Guaymas, 60 million pesos will be allocated for the rehabilitation of the Tourist Boardwalk, where 800 linear meters will be renovated with recreational areas, a bike path, children’s playgrounds, restrooms, a dancing fountain, and the transformation of a road into a pedestrian walkway.

In Empalme, together with Mayor Luis Fuentes Aguilar, the New Boardwalk project at Playa El Cochórit was presented, with an investment of 190 million pesos. This space will be 1.64 kilometers long, with sidewalks, a bike path, walkways, green areas, palapas, a picnic area, children’s playgrounds, outdoor exercise equipment, commercial spaces, and public restrooms.

The governor emphasized the importance of these projects in attracting regional tourism. “I predict that once the Guaymas-Chihuahua highway opens, what happened to Mazatlán when the Durango-Mazatlán highway opened will happen to San Carlos and Empalme. Mazatlán, Chihuahua, Juárez, and El Paso… the beaches of those major cities are here, and they are San Carlos, and we will welcome them here by the millions. So be it,” he said.

These investments seek not only to boost tourism but also to improve urban infrastructure and provide inclusive and safe recreational spaces for the local population and visitors.
