Chemotherapy and dialysis treatments, among others, increased in the private health sector of Sonora, between 2022 and 2023, according to health statistics published by Inegi.
In the first case, the services went from 1,079 in 2022 to 1,841 in 2023, that is, an increase of 70.62%, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, while dialysis services grew from 5,821 to 7,086 last year.
Chemotherapy procedures nationwide in private health facilities also increased in the same period: They went from 64,792 in 2022 to 76,549 in 2023.
In Sonora, there are 39 private health facilities registered, 35 of them considered general hospitals, according to the same exercise carried out by Inegi.
IN RADIOTHERAPY
Like chemotherapy and dialysis services, radiotherapy treatments increased in private health facilities in Sonora between 2022 and 2023.
From 205 services offered in 2022, they rose to 510 last year; this scenario did not occur at the national level, where a decrease in the number of cases was recorded.
In 2023 (in Mexico), the rate of radiotherapy treatments applied in private health establishments per 100 thousand inhabitants decreased by 3.37 units compared to 2022,” according to the national agency.
