The Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) reported that those sentenced, identified as Bernardo, Alexander, Francisco, Eduardo, and Inés, were investigated following a complaint filed by employees of the state agency itself.
The case was handled by the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office assigned to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Regional Control (FECOR), which obtained a judicial sentence of two years and six months in prison for the five former public officials.
The charges for which they were prosecuted were related to alleged abuse of authority, embezzlement, and improper use of powers and authorities, conduct committed while they were serving in the Sonora Health Secretariat.
The FGR did not disclose the specific positions held by the five former officials or provide details regarding the amount of the alleged financial damage or the specific circumstances that led to the convictions.
The case originated from a complaint filed by employees of the agency and concluded with the judicial ruling imposing a two-year-and-six-month prison sentence on each of them.
