The Sonora State Attorney General’s Office (FGJES) announced the final dismantling of Los Deltas, the armed wing of the Sinaloa Cartel’s Los Chapitos faction, which had a presence in the state.

The dismantling, according to authorities, occurred after the body of Eleazar Pulido Landeros, alias “Delta 10,” leader of Los Deltas, was found after being murdered by a criminal group in the municipality of Pitiquito, and his identity was confirmed on Friday, May 23.

The Attorney General’s Office detailed that “Delta 10” was constantly being sought in the desert area due to outstanding arrest warrants for aggravated homicide with malice aforethought and advantage, as well as criminal association.

Pulido Landeros was a prime target in Mexico and the United States, for whom the prosecutor’s office was offering a reward of up to 500,000 pesos for information leading to his capture.

The “Delta 10” gang was also accused of probable involvement in the October 2024 murder of former US Marine Nicholas Douglas Quets, who was shot dead by a group of hitmen while driving along the Altar-Pitiquito highway in Sonora.

Following the events, the state Attorney General’s Office stated that so far, “all its members are detained or neutralized,” thus determining the organization’s dissolution.

The Deltas gang is allegedly led by Eric Jesús Cabrera Cabrera, alias “El Duranguillo” and/or “Delta 1,” who in turn received orders from Omar Félix Loaiza, alias “El Pelón” or “El 08,” who was arrested on November 14, 2024, in Culiacán, Sinaloa.

However, authorities have not yet clarified the status of Eric Jesús Cabrera Cabrera. Infobae Mexico consulted with the Attorney General’s Office. The State has not issued a response.

For his part, Omar Félix Loaiza, alias “El Pelón,” operated in northeastern Sonora, according to federal authorities. News reports also indicate that he had established himself in municipalities such as San Luis Río Colorado, Pitiquito, Sonoyta, and some areas of Caborca.

In these municipalities, “El Pelón” led a territorial conflict against Los Rusos, the armed wing of the Los Mayos faction, which, following the arrest of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, is now led by Ismael Zambada, Sicairos “El Mayito Flaco.”

These events are in addition to the recent arrests of Los Deltas hitmen in the municipalities of Caborca, as well as Gabriel “N,” alias “Keka,” identified as the top leader of the criminal group in that region.
