After several shootings that shocked Ciudad Obregón, Cajeme, in Sonora and forced the population to take refuge on Sunday morning, authorities from the three levels of government in Sonora confirmed the arrest of one person, as well as the seizure of firearms and vehicles.
It was around 09:18 hours on September 22 that an emergency code was reported in the Misión del Sol neighborhood, where the National Guard (GN) and the Municipal Police of Cajeme responded to the call of what appeared to be a confrontation, reported the State Security Board of the state of Sonora.
Upon arriving at the conflict zones, the National Guard detected a gray Ford Explorer vehicle fleeing through the northern exit of Ciudad Obregón, on the International Highway, which caused a chase with the support of the State Public Security Police.
The actions resulted in the arrest of an alleged hitman identified as Brandon “N”, as well as two vehicles, one of them armored, long weapons and pistols.
Violence near the north of Mexico
The wave of violence in Ciudad Obregón began with the illegal deprivation in the Prados del Tepeyac neighborhood. So far, the relevance of the detainee within the criminal cells that operate in Cajeme is unknown, as is the identity of the subject who was allegedly kidnapped.
Regarding the report of the Municipal Police of Cajeme, they confirmed that there were several red codes channeled; four homes were the object of bullet impacts in the Misión del Sol ll, Matías Méndez, Ampliación Alameda and Urbi Villa del Real neighborhoods.
No authority from the three levels of government reported serious injuries in the shootings that were reported this morning, only one person with injuries to an arm, who was transferred to receive medical attention; At the time of writing this note, prevention operations continue throughout the city.
Local media reported that in Ciudad Obregón, a helicopter from the Navy flew over the Misión del Sol, Primero de Mayo, Urbis and Valle Dorado neighborhoods, which has caused concern among residents.
The Sinaloa Cartel, Beltrán Leyva and the Nuevo Cártel de Juárez are the three organized crime groups that operate in Cajeme, and the municipality also has the presence of the Los Salazar criminal cell.
