Among those detained there are two minors; They were captured in the area of Altar and Santa Ana

The violence in Sonora continues and almost every day arrests and a series of confrontations are reported in the area fought by criminal cells of the Sinaloa Cartel and the Caborca Cartel.

This fight intensified after the Los Chapitos faction announced a ban on the production and sale of fentanyl in several states in the north of the country, including Sonora.

In the state there have been strong clashes between criminal cells and narco messages have been left to threaten those who do not obey these instructions. For this reason, the authorities at the three levels of government have increased a series of actions to inhibit the crime rate.

Proof of this is the arrest of five alleged criminals in the Altar-Santa Ana area on November 14, according to the State Security Board.

Long weapons, heavy caliber cartridges and vehicles reported stolen were seized from these people.

The state Public Security Secretariat indicated that the arrest of the first three people, where there are also two minors, occurred on Tuesday around 9:00 a.m. in Oquitoa, when elements of the Municipal Police and National Guard received the report of alleged firearm detonations.

When going to this site, the authorities did not locate responsible people at the scene. Subsequently, it was reported that armed individuals were detected on the side of the road in the Altar-Santa Ana section, so the authorities activated an operation in the area.

The security unit detailed that during surveillance tours, the National Guard recorded the capture of Óscar Omar “N”, 17 years old; Johan “N”, 22 years old; and Joan de Jesús “N”, 14 years old, who were traveling in a gray 2023 model Ford F-150 Pick Up vehicle.

Inside this vehicle, two R-15 5.56 caliber firearms and AK-47 7.62×39 caliber firearms were located with two magazines supplied with 29 cartridges each.

Meanwhile, minutes later, members of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), National Guard, Ministerial Agents and State Police reported the arrest of Daniel “N”, 29 years old, and Miguel Ángel “N”, 21 years old, and the seizure of a white pickup-type vehicle, model 2022 with five long weapons, two short weapons, 15 magazines and 1,816 cartridges inside.

Meanwhile, the authority specified that as part of the results of the operation, three vehicles reported stolen were also seized; one Chevrolet brand pickup, gray, 2022 model; another white Pick up with a theft report on October 26, 2023 in San Diego, California; a white Dodge RAM pickup, 2022 model; and a Toyota 4Runner with American license plates.

This arrest occurred less than three days after the visit of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to the state, where the appearance of narco mantas in the name of Rafael Caro Quintero, leader and founder of the Caborca Cartel, was also reported.

“Sagid Emilio Quintero Navidad, alias El Cadete, who surrendered to the American Government and who everyone speculates is the one who handed over his uncle Rafael Caro Quintero, today free for having cooperated, but continues his criminal career since he is behind the wave of violence in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora (sic)”, can be read on the banner addressed to AMLO.

According to data from Sedena, the municipalities with the highest crime rate in intentional homicide, vehicle theft and drug dealing are Hermosillo, Cajeme, San Luis Río Colorado and Caborca.
