WARNING! “Chocolate” Vehicles With CONDEFA, PAFA, or HARFUCHPAFA License Plates Face Restrictions in Puerto Peñasco

If you are driving a “chocolate” (imported, non-regularized) vehicle with CONDEFA, PAFA, or HARFUCHPAFA license plates and plan to travel to Puerto Peñasco, you could encounter problems leaving the area.

According to Omar Lugo Patrón, leader of CONDEFA, vehicles with these license plates are allowed to travel through Sonora from July 16 through August 3, except to Puerto Peñasco.

According to the warning:

  • Vehicles may enter Puerto Peñasco through Caborca, but upon leaving, they may be stopped at the Las Almejas checkpoint, where authorities could impound the vehicle.
  • Drivers attempting to leave through the Gulf of Santa Clara toward San Luis Río Colorado could also be stopped at the checkpoint located in that area.

Lugo Patrón stated:

“You can enter Puerto Peñasco, but you will not be able to leave that area… you’ll lose your vehicle there.”

The statement also indicates that videos have been shared on social media allegedly showing vehicles being stopped and impounded.
