Governor Alfonso Durazo Highlights Investments in Parks, Highways, and Water Projects in Sonora

Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño announced that various infrastructure works and strategic projects are continuing across Sonora, focused on improving connectivity, revitalizing public spaces, and strengthening environmental initiatives in different regions of the state.

Modernization of Ostimuri Park in Cajeme

Prominent among the works currently underway is the modernization of Ostimuri Park in Cajeme, where an investment of 100 million pesos is being made and progress currently stands at 65 percent. The project includes improvements to access points, recreational areas, lighting, and the rehabilitation of iconic spaces within the park.

The project features platforms for attractions such as a panoramic Ferris wheel, a Viking ship ride, and a children’s carousel, in addition to work on the swimming pools, restrooms, open-air theater, mini-golf course, bumper cars, and the park’s traditional train.

Water and Mobility Projects in Nogales and Hermosillo

In Nogales, the state government is advancing with infrastructure projects at the Nogales Institute of Technology (Tecnológico de Nogales), where stormwater drainage works and the paving of 1.8 kilometers of roadway were previously completed with an investment of 580 million pesos. New water management initiatives and a vehicular bridge are also being prepared.

The new works in this area involve the construction of an additional 100 meters of open-channel water infrastructure, a bridge designed to enhance road safety, and the Las Granjas retention dam, with estimated investments of 46 million and 160 million pesos, respectively.

Regarding mobility and the environment, the modernization of the Hermosillo-Kino highway continues with an investment of 500 million pesos and is currently 25 percent complete. Additionally, rehabilitation efforts are underway at the Sonora Ecological Center, and Animal Welfare Clinic services are being provided across various municipalities.
