More than 10 billion pesos announced for Sonora highways; these are the priority projects

Sonora will be one of the states most benefited by the National Highway Infrastructure Program, spearheaded by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, with an investment exceeding 10 billion pesos for the modernization, rehabilitation, and construction of strategic roads within the state.

As part of this national strategy to strengthen connectivity and promote economic development, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño highlighted that Sonora will receive an investment of 10.285 billion pesos this year in highway infrastructure, resources aimed at improving mobility, enhancing road safety, and bolstering state economic growth.

PRIORITY HIGHWAYS AND BYPASSES IN SONORA

Among the main projects planned for this year are:

Navojoa and Nogales Bypasses
Modernization of the Hermosillo-Bahía de Kino Highway
Guaymas-Chihuahua Highway
Ímuris-Cananea Route
Sonoyta-Puerto Peñasco Sections
Sonoyta-San Luis Río Colorado Section

In addition, projects considered strategic, such as the Caborca, Sonoyta, and San Luis Río Colorado bypasses, are still in the planning stages.

In the case of the Hermosillo-Bahía de Kino Highway, the first phase of modernization is currently underway, with 20% completion and an investment of 500 million pesos to improve 28 kilometers.

The rehabilitation of the Ímuris-Cananea Highway has also begun, with 600 million pesos allocated for conservation, pothole repair, and curve maintenance.

The Navojoa bypass project includes an investment of 1.5 billion pesos for the construction of a 22.7-kilometer roadway.

The program also includes rehabilitation work on various federal highway sections, including:

Alfonso Durazo Montaño emphasized that this investment combines federal, state, and private resources as part of a coordinated strategy to boost economic growth, attract investment, and create greater opportunities for the people of Sonora.
