The Searching Mothers of Sonora reported that six young people disappeared this past weekend in a period of less than 72 hours. The cases were registered in the municipalities of Hermosillo and Nogales.

Who are the missing young people in Sonora?

Through a social media post, the Searching Mothers of Sonora asked for the public’s help in locating six young people who disappeared in Hermosillo and Nogales. These are the names of the missing persons:

Angelica Deneyra García Lugo: Hermosillo
Ángel Luciel García Muñoz: Hermosillo
Jonathan Jesús Valenzuela Osuna: Nogales
Miguel Ángel Valenzuela Osuna: Nogales
Francisco Otoniel Ahumada Maldonado: Nogales
Antonio Natael Ahumada Maldonado: Nogales

Anyone with information that could help locate them can contact authorities anonymously at 6623 41 56 16.

Local media report that relatives of the missing persons went to the Sonora State Attorney General’s Office to demand that authorities find the young people.

Eleven missing youths rescued during operation in Nogales

Local press also reported that an operation was carried out Saturday night in the Pueblitos neighborhood of Nogales, resulting in the rescue of 11 minors. These young men are allegedly linked to criminal activities of a group known as the “Macheteros.”

Some of the young men showed signs of violence. Authorities in Sonora have not commented on the operation, so it is still unconfirmed whether any of those rescued are among the people being sought by search collectives.
