American Patrick Joseph Weber was found dead on a dock in Guaymas, Sonora, local authorities announced, attributing his death to a ruptured artery in his neck.

Weber’s body, who was last seen alive on February 22, was located at the San Carlos pier in the municipality of Guaymas, under a sailboat next to his own, the Sonora Attorney General’s Office, where Guaymas is located, said in a statement. The disappearance of the 71-year-old American was reported to local authorities the previous day.

According to preliminary investigations, no signs of violence or looting were found in his apartment, nor on his boat or car, which was parked nearby. At the time of the discovery, his body was still wearing his clothes, and he had his cell phone and wallet with him.

Hours later, the state prosecutor’s office reported that the autopsy results ruled out foul play.

“The medical report determined that the death was caused by the rupture of a major artery in the neck, resulting from a pre-existing medical condition and not related to violence,” the Public Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

The Associated Press requested comment from the U.S. Embassy, but had not yet received a response.
