The Madres Buscadoras de Sonora collective reported the discovery of eight bodies in four clandestine graves located on Calle 20 Sur, in the town of Miguel Alemán, located about 30 kilometers west of Hermosillo. The search yielded a positive result after several days of research and field work.
The collective led by Cecy Patricia Flores Armenta, which has been dedicated to locating missing persons in the northwest region of the country for years, managed to locate the graves thanks to the collaboration of families and volunteers. Initially, it was estimated that there were six bodies, but after finishing the processing of the graves, the presence of eight victims was confirmed.
“I would like to be able to put their little pieces together so that their mother could give them a last farewell hug. We found 8 bodies here and 2 more yesterday. Today I am broken,” shared the leader of the Madres Buscadoras de Sonora collective on social media.
The corresponding authorities were present to secure the area and carry out the necessary forensic procedures to identify the bodies. Investigations continue to determine the circumstances of the disappearances and the possible link to organized crime activities in the area.
The Madres Buscadoras de Sonora collective reiterated its call to the authorities to intensify efforts to search for missing persons and guarantee justice for the victims and their families. It called on the general public to collaborate with the searches, accompanying them on their journeys or with anonymous information through their social networks.
