A group of at least 24 vehicles were stuck on the highway between Agua Prieta, Sonora and Janos, Chihuahua, due to the freezing of the asphalt surface caused by a polar air mass associated with cold front number 25.
The National Guard and Civil Protection personnel provided blankets and food to the occupants of the vehicles, and implemented traffic detours to prevent accidents.
The cold front also brought snowfall to other parts of Sonora and Chihuahua, where intermittent road closures were carried out by the authorities.
The drivers were advised to drive with caution and follow the recommendations of the security and emergency agencies.
