With the goal of strengthening the culture of organ and tissue donation and transplantation from an early age, the Government of Sonora, through the Ministry of Public Health (SSP) and the State Transplant Center (Ceestra), launched the State Drawing Contest “The Miracle of Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation: A New Beginning,” aimed at elementary and middle school students throughout the state.

This initiative seeks to raise awareness among children and young people about the importance of donation, highlighting values such as solidarity, altruism, and the positive impact that transplants have on the lives of individuals and their families, promoting social awareness from childhood and adolescence.

In this regard, Teresita Martínez Gil, director of the Outreach and Education Department at the State Transplant Center, emphasized that art is a key tool for conveying this message to new generations. “The goal of the drawing contest is to promote a culture of organ donation and transplantation in the state, especially among children and young people. We are inviting all elementary and middle school students to participate by submitting a drawing that represents solidarity, altruism, and what it means to donate and give life through organ donation,” he stated.

Students from third to sixth grade of elementary school, as well as first through third year of middle school, are eligible to participate. They must submit a color drawing or painting, using any technique, with a theme related to organ and tissue transplantation as a new beginning. The use of digital art or images generated with artificial intelligence is prohibited.

Submissions will be accepted from the date of this announcement until February 27th. Entries can be submitted in person at the Ceestra offices in Hermosillo or electronically via a photograph of the drawing for participants from other municipalities, provided they meet the established requirements.

The SSP invited mothers, fathers, guardians and teachers to encourage the participation of girls, boys and adolescents in this contest that, in addition to recognizing artistic talent, contributes to sowing a culture of donation that can save the lives and future of numerous families in Sonora.
